God don’t like ugly, is that true? How many times have you repeated a statement time and time again without really examining it? It’s been my experience that many times we find out how flawed our expressed statements or comments are when we dig deeper. Digging deeper requires a bit of mental karate and many people are uncomfortable with that. The above statement has so many holes in it that I’m surprised more people don’t see it. Let’s explore this a bit further.
Let’s turn it around, God does like ugly. Could this statement be just as true or truer than its opposite? Why wouldn’t she like ugly? If God witnessed someone being “ugly” perhaps it reveals to her the areas that the person still needs to improve upon. Perhaps when God sees someone being ugly she just smiles because it reminds her of the times when the person was being pretty. Maybe God just sees that person being out of character for the moment and knows without a doubt they will soon return to being their pretty self again.
Here’s another thought. Not everyone’s definition of what ugly is – is the same. I may feel that a coach who yells at a little league football player when he makes a mistake is being ugly. You may perceive it as just the opposite. Who’s right? We both are given our model of the world. So who’s side would God take, mine or yours? Can you see the potential problems with this?
How about this one. God is everything …right? Right? So wouldn’t God be both the ugly and the pretty? If there is nothing that God is not, he’d have to be both. So while you embrace one half of it, God embraces it all. He sees the bigger picture where you do not. He see’s the person growing and evolving into a more conscious human being.
Here’s another one. Why do we project our human qualities onto God? Who is the first person to say that God doesn’t like ugly. Chances are you don’t no and neither do I. Did this person talk to God and she specifically uttered the words, “I am God and I don’t like ugly?” Sounds pretty far-fetched to me. However, many of you have said those words hundreds of times, never stopping to ask yourself whether it was true or not. You probably never once inquired whether or not the statement had any merit.
Here’s the last one that I’ll share with you. You need ugly. Why? So you can have something to gossip about to your friends and family. You need it because in its absence, pretty does not exist. If everyone’s actions were pretty, how would you know ugly? How would you be able to discuss the concept of prettiness without ugliness? You couldn’t. You need it’s opposite and God already knows that and that is exactly why she embraces it all. This is exactly why God witnesses an act and smiles. Yes, he smiles to what you call ugly and what you call pretty. He knows it’s all one in the same and one day you will know that to be true for yourself.
God don’t like ugly? Is it true?
That’s my spin on it.
