Most of us are familiar with the Nike motto, “Just do it.” Although I love the saying I’ve spiced it up a bit. Here’s my saying “Just do it and get a little better.” I’m currently reading a book by Felix Dennis called “How To Get Rich.” I just started reading the book and I’m delighted that I was exposed to such a no nonsense book on how to get rich. There only two things that I want to tell you about Felix, one is that he’s rich, very rich and the other thing, he has never used a cell phone, sent an email or a text.
The reason I bring up those two things about Felix is to prove to you that most of the things you think you need to get rich–you don’t.
The Things You Don’t Need If Your Plan Is To Be Rich
- You don’t need money
- You don’t need an email
- You don’t need a computer
- You don’t need to know “The Secret”
- You don’t need rich parents
- You don’t need rich grandparents
- You don’t need a rich aunt or uncle
- You don’t need support
- You don’t need coaching
- You don’t need a mentor
- You don’t need to be born with a silver spoon in your mouth
- You don’t need to have come from a certain neighborhood
- You don’t need a college degree
- You don’t need a high school diploma
- You don’t need to meditate
- You don’t need to be bright
- You don’t need a high IQ
- You don’t need a Blackberry or Iphone
- You don’t need to pray
- You don’t need to be spiritual or religious
- You don’t need an idea
- You don’t need support from your family and friends
- You don’t need a spouse
- You don’t need to be married
The Things You Do Need If Your Plan Is To Be Rich
- You need to have focus
- You need to hit it (whatever it is) until you hit it
- You need to NEVER, NEVER, NEVER give up
- You need one-pointed aim
- You need to have passion
- You need to find a need and fill it
- You need to endeavor to be the best at what you do
- You need not chase the new shiny coin on the beach
- You need to see the end when you begin
- You need to do something (anything) on moving toward being rich every single day
- You need to reinvest in yourself
- You need to immerse yourself in personal development
- You need to see yourself as being worthy of being rich
- You need to make it your intention to be rich
- You need to learn how to leverage efforts
- You need to learn how to not trade time for money
- You need the proper mindset
- You need an abundance mentality
If hard work were such a wonderful thing, surely the rich would have kept it all to themselves. (Land Kirkland)
That the poor are invisible is one of the most important things about them. They are not simply neglected and forgotten as in the old rhetoric of reform; what is much worse, they are not seen. (Michael Harrington)
Everybody can be rich. Not everybody wants to be rich. Not everybody will be rich. Being rich will not bring you happiness but neither will poverty. Most people will never be rich because they will come up with every excuse in the book why they can’t. Most people will never be rich because they can’t stop watching the Cowboys or some reality TV show long enough to create their own wealth.
Get rich is about firing, then aiming and next getting ready. Too many people are getting ready to get ready. Too many people are waiting on Gadot. I say just do it and get a little better because that’s all anybody who’s gotten rich has done.
That’s my spin on it.
