The law of least effort states that there is just a faint idea, and then the manifestation of the idea comes about effortlessly. This is what some would call a miracle.
I have one friend that I talk to quite frequently and when I ask him how are things going his reply is mostly the same, “Man I’ve been real, real busy.”
I should follow up with what does being busy have to do with being productive? How many apples are in your apple cart because you’ve been out in the orchard all day?
The results are the only thing that matter. I’ve often found that people fall into one of two extremes, either they don’t produce much at all or they try and do too much and end up not producing much.
In my humble opinion they are no better off than a chicken who’s just got their neck wrung and have absolutely no direction or idea where they’re going. In fact, a chicken maybe smarter because he may know that he’s about to end up on somebody’s plate.
The two strategies that I’m about to share with you are simple but not easy. The strategies are definitely counter-intuitive and if you’re not careful the inherent wisdom may just go right over your head.
1. Do less and achieve more.
2. Do nothing and achieve everything.
At a deeper level you already know these things but I bet you rarely stop to give them more thought which is exactly what you ‘should’ do. Neither of the above strategies involve swapping hours for dollars. Neither involve trading something that is finite (TIME) for something that is infinite (MONEY).
Here’s my bold statement. You will never be able to be all that you were put here to be unless you learn how to create both passive and residual income. There’s just not enough time for you to do so.
Do less and achieve more.
Do you know people who make 10x the money you do but yet they seem not to break a sweat? How do people produce 10x, 20x or even 100x more in the same allotted 24 hours that we all have access to?
Have you worked really hard before performing the same activity as another but achieving one tenth of the results?
If you work a traditional JOB, how does the one who writes the check pay you and everyone else who they employ?
Believe me it’s not about hard work. I will venture to say that everyone reading this post believes they work hard. Many of you feel like you’ve paid your dues. Then why are you not reaping the rewards that you say you truly desire?
Let me cite just a few reasons. You’ve never made it your conscious intention to do so. You don’t focus. You dabble. You fail to set small, intermediate and long range goals. You have the “one day” syndrome. You spend too much of your time on things that don’t matter. You major in minor things. You watch too much CNN (constant negative news). You spend too much building other people’s dreams but not your own. You hang around too many ultimate underachievers. You don’t immerse yourself in personal development. You don’t follow though on what you start until completion. You idolize American Idol but you fail to idealize your self. You don’t know how to leverage the Universe to produce massive results. You don’t know how to monetize your God-given gifts.
Which one of the above are you guilty of?
Once you master the ‘do less and achieve more’ strategy (few ever do) then you will naturally gravitate towards the ‘do nothing and achieve everything’.
If you keep discovering ways to doing less then eventually there is nothing left to do unless you want to. Believe me the movers and shakers always find new and bigger endeavors to pursue.
I first learned about the ‘do nothing and achieve everything’ concept when I was in high school although I didn’t completely understand it. I was absolutely fascinated by the idea.
My friend worked for an elderly gentleman who would receive a dividend or interest income check in the mail. He didn’t physically do anything because he wasn’t capable of doing much. Yet month after month, day after day he received these checks in his mailbox. It was more than enough to support a 24 hour in home nurse which we know is quite expensive. It was more than enough to support a maid service and other forms of hired help. He even started his own foundation.
He was receiving the returns on his principle but his principle remained untouched. His principle investments were kicking off so much in the way of dividend and interest that he literally did nothing.
However, I need to put a disclaimer here because the naysayer will start to chant you can’t get something for nothing song at me. Neither of these strategies suggest no action on your part. Action will have to be taken it just doesn’t have to be you performing the action. Action does have to be taken but the action performed can be much more strategic.
The best ideas times zero action is still zero.
That’s my spin on it.
