Don’t you just hate it when the large corporations don’t man up? When Blockbuster files a Chapter 11 bankruptcy they call it “pre-arranged recapitalization.” Why don’t they just tell the truth and say something like, “guys we have a flawed business model and failed to adapt to the changing market and now we don’t have enough money to pay our bills.” Or maybe they could say, “Netflix and Redbox is flat out kicking our ass.” I’d respect them a lot more if they spoke openly and honestly than with their watered down “pre-arranged recapitalization.”
Expecting change is the key to life. Preparing for change is the wisdom of life. So many of us, not just the big corporations are walking around with flawed business models. We have them in our relationships, in our workforce, in our churches, and in our attitudes. The things that got you to where you are today are not the same tools that will get you where you wish to go. Change or die. Don’t be like Blockbuster and see everyone around you changing while you continue to hold on to those things that are obviously not working.
Become comfortable with change. Expect it. Embrace it. I can tell you from my own experience that change is often uncomfortable but what awaits you on the other side is something much better than what you already have. Begin walking in the direction of change and it will meet you more than halfway – I promise. You came to this world for the change not sameness. Reinvent yourself. Move with the current not against it.
What things around you are changing but you continue to resist?
That’s my spin on it.
