You will not find it in a book. You will not find it a seminar. You will not find it at a bootcamp. You will not find it in a movie. The only Spiritual Authority is you. You have the final verdict on what life means to you. You are the commander in chief on what you become. You get to decide if you will die empty or with your song unsung.
Spirituality Authority is rather matter of fact. Just feel the way if rolls off your tongue. Go ahead and say it…I’ll wait. It commands. It’s authoritative. It’s succinct. It’s deliberate. Don’t allow anyone else to have such control over you but you.
I love the Bible. From time to time you will even see me quote scriptures from it. I do this because the Bible is replete with timeless wisdom. It is one of the most melodic and poetic texts on the planet. However, the Bible is cannot and was not meant to be my Spiritual Authority. Oh a lot of people just left this blog forever with that last statement.
I nor you are automatons. We are creative beings from the most high. We are thinking and feeling creatures. Why would anyone give us so much power and then slap us on the hand when we decided to exercise it.
The scriptures, parables, allegories that occur throughout the Bible are signposts and they merely point the way. They do not urge me to take a particular path. They remain neutral and provide me with some great knowledge and wisdom and then I must choose a path. Only I can choose. No one can choose for me or for you.
The road always diverge, meaning they always split in two. I can go to the right or the left. I can take the blue pill or the red pill. I can choose consciously or choose by default. I can be magnificent or be mediocre. I can go through life filled with fear or I can become fearless. I can strike to become like God or say succumb to the idea that being God-like is out of my reach.
Is one road superior to the next? No, it just depends on what you came here to experience. The least traveled path is often times the one that is most illuminating in my experience.
Too many of us allow a book, a person, a sibling, a parent, a colleague, a boss, an acquaintance become our Spiritual Authority. No one has the final say so on who or what you become. Just because you read it in a book (even the Bible) don’t make it so. I love what Will Smith said, “Who said 2 + 2 = 4? 2 + 2 is whatever I say it is.
I love the free choice world. Sometimes it can be a little disheartening to look around and see the world that I’ve created for myself when its not to my liking. I also feel an overwhelming since of power knowing that I like you have been given dominion over all things. I know with certainty that I can be, do and have whatever I desire.
I thank God for allowing me to be my own Spiritual Authority. I thank God that my will for me just also happens to be God’s will for me. I thank God that she has only one answer whenever I ask her for anything. Yes my son.
That’s my spin on it.
