The Double Illusion

by rbenns on January 1, 2010

Your world is a reflection of you.  The world is just like a giant mirror playing back to you exactly what you think and feel about it.  It’s only real to the extent that you believe it’s real.  It’s only as alive as you choose to make it.  For some it’s a never ending paradise and for others its a perpetual hell.

The first illusion is that you believe your world to be real.  You suspect that when you hear on the news that we’re in a recession that it must be true.  You cringe at the thought of terrorists being among your mist and the idea that the world will end in 2010. You believe that the world is unkind and that its tough to eek out a living.  You believe that much of 2010 will simply be a repeat of 2009.  You believe that life is about working hard and deferring your dreams to some point in time that never comes.  I’m here to tell you that’s true only to the degree in which you believe in it.  Your world always proceeds out of your intention for it.  Please read that again.  Your manifesting your world with your every thought, feeling and emotion.  This is the way its been since the beginning of time.

The second illusion is that you believe God understands your world.  You believe that God helps to create your world.  God only knows the world in as and through you.  This is a game of tag and you’re it.  The way God knows your life is by how you show up this moment and the next moment.  The way God gets a chance to experience your world is simply by the way you experience it.  God is all there is.  That means she’s omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient and therefore the only way she experiences herself is through not self.

Are you confused?  If you’re a ball the only way to experience yourself is through contrast which would be anything that is not a ball.  The only way to know cold conceptually and as an experience is through the opposite of cold which would be hot.  The contrast of anything actually helps  to hold that experience in place.  If you chose to know what you desired in a relationship but weren’t quite sure all you’d have to do is list all the things that you did not desire.  This subtraction process would only leave the things that you did want to experience.  Therefore by the process of simple subtraction you are able to discover your deepest desires.

Back to God.  So when God is all there is and the creator of everything he only gets to experience the world at whatever level you play the game.  So if your life tends to be joyous God feels this joy and by the same token if your life is filled with less than joy God feels this too.  Its a little tough to talk in God terms using such words as feeling when describing God.  So let me put it another way.  If you have children and you see your children live there life in a pleasing manner then that feeling is transferred back to you.  That’s why so many parents try to give their children what they thought they missed growing up.  They give it to them so they can feel good despite believing that they do it for their children which is just a secondary benefit.

Here’s a litmus test for the double illusion.  Is there a person who you simply detest?  Is this person creating your experience of them or are you?  When this person is not in your presence do you still often times have ill feelings about them?  Who’s creating the experience then?  Is there someone else that you know who also knows this same person but actually likes them?  Why is there experience different than yours?  Remember we’re talking about the same individual.  If God witnessed you while you were having such ill feelings about this person how would God experience your world?  All roads lead back to you.  You are the creator of your world.  Here’s another big clue.  If you think something outside of you is causing you pain you’re insane.

So once again you live in a world of double illusions.  God created you and you are creating God.  This may be where the phrase “win-win” originated.  Next time you think about which road to go down always choose the road that will give honor to God.

That’s my spin on it.
