Two Gods

Two Gods1 150x150 Two GodsThere’s this God that you may read about in the Bible, the Koran or even the Bhagavad Gita. This is the God that you think that you know. This is the God of your imagination. This is the God that you know about but you don’t truly know. This is what I call your made up God.

There is a another God. This is the God that you meet when you’re locked up which some refer to as the Jailhouse God. This is the God that you meet when tragedies such as Hurricane Katrina, 911 and the Tsunami happen and you’re affected by it. This is the God that you meet when you’ve been unemployed for 6 months with a hefty mortgage and sizable car payment and no savings. This is God that you meet when you’re house has just been foreclosed and you have no where to go. This is the God that you meet when you and your children are sleeping in a shelter without seeing a light at the end of the tunnel. This is the God that you meet when a plane has just crashed and you lost love ones that were on board.  I referred to this as the real God in you.

These are two different Gods. The first one you fantasize about. The first one others try to tell you about. The second one is where all fantasies are dissolved. The second God is where you ask others to please remain silent while you experience God for yourself. (contrary to popular belief this is the only way that you can know God)

The first God allows you to stay broke, lonely, angry, disappointed, joyless, uninspiring, pitiful, dreamless and tired. The second God is where you become powerful, joyful, abundant, healthy, vibrant, happy, a dreamer and full of energy.

Some people don’t wait to there is a storm before they meet God but most do. The churches are full of people who think they can know God by sitting in a building shouting and singing praise. Perhaps this is a way to know about God but this is not knowing God. You only get to meet God when you come face to face with the real you. It’s scary to do this but it’s even scarier not to do it.

That’s my spin on it.

That’s some heavy reading. I would agree that most people think they ‘know’ God because of their affiliation with some religious order or sect. Yet, I ‘know’ God because I experience her on the regular. For She is Me. Not that I need or was even looking, but thanks for the confirmation.
