Put one foot in front of the other and walk. You may not see green fields and flowers and you may not be able to smell the grass but keep walking. The greatest advice that I was ever given was to never give up. I’ve wanted to give up many times but I kept walking. Life has given me many reasons to throw in the towel but I keep walking.
Recently I was speaking with a friend who has been unemployed for more than a year and I asked him a very simple question. “If you could open any type of business what type would it be?” He responded, “Man I don’t even know, I don’t want to think about that right now. People would have to spend their hard earned money and in these times that we’re in..I do mean hard.”
Wow! Isn’t it interesting that it didn’t cost him anything to dream but yet he refused to do so. What I asked him to do was free. He’s dead. He’s alive but he’s dead. The locusts have stolen his dreams. He has been so beaten down by life that he has shut off his imagination. He may not be physically dead but his spirit is dead and that is the most dangerous kind of death.
People who give up die. They are the walking dead. There is nothing in life that you cannot overcome if you refuse to give up. It’s not going to be easy so let’s get that clear right away. Not giving up is like walking uphill because it’s the toughest part of the hill and the most beneficial.
You’re either walking or you’re dying and there is no in between. Would you rather die where you are by not trying or keep walking not sure of where it may lead you? You are where you are because it’s exactly where you’re supposed to be but no one said you had to remain there.
One baby step after another gets you there. It may take one, three, five or ten years but you will get there if you keep on walking. The universe favors the bold and bodacious.
Will you continue to walk or lie down and die? Mediocrity is not walking.
