Is Willie Lynch Still In Business?

by rbenns on January 2, 2010

Divide and conquer.  This was the goal of Willie Lynch almost 300 years ago.  The mandate that he gave to slave owners was self-perpetuating. His ideas have caused an indefinite renewing of itself among Black people.  In many ways we parade around like modern day slaves without even realizing our destructive behavior.

In 1712 Willie Lynch met with slave owners and he gave them a very specific protocol.  He made a guarantee that if this protocol was put in place that it would control the slaves for at least 300 years.  The year 2012 will mark the 300 year anniversary of Willie’s mastermind plan to slave owners for controlling the slaves.  He even called the method fool-proof and in my observation of the way things are today he was spot on.

He did this because there was an uprising among slaves.  They started to run away.  They were not tending the master’s crops as usual and their profit was declining.  They had to find a way to keep you from knowing who you truly are and thus the diabolical scheme was instituted.

The Willie Lynch Plan:

  • Take differences among slaves and make them bigger
  • Pit the young black male against the old black male (age)
  • Pit the dark skinned against the light skinned (color or shade)
  • Pit the more intelligent against the less intelligent (intelligence)
  • Pit the male against the female (gender)
  • Pit the small plantation against large plantation (size)
  • Pit coarse hair against fine hair (hair)
  • Pit tall against short (height)
  • Pit large frame against small frame (size)
  • Pit location of where slaves lived (Valley, Hill, East, West, North, South)

Willie knew something about human nature and the psychology of the human mind.  He knew that if you could get the slaves to distrust each other that would overrule any trust.  He knew that if you could get the slaves to envy each another that would supersede any admiration or respect.  He also knew that once the slaves had become indoctrinated with this philosophy that it would continue to renew itself automatically.  As Carter G. Woodson so eloquently wrote “once you control the mind you can predict the actions.”

It was his intent to get the slaves to trust only the slave owners.  He advised slave owners to use this plan any time the opportunity was presented.  He said at most all you would have to do is use it for at least one year and you’d have control for many years to come.

Now I ask you has the love among Black people changed all that much or is it just disguised differently in 2010?  If you don’t know the past you are doomed to repeat it.

Willie Lynch Lives On:

Are there a disproportionate number of Black males incarcerated?  Are most African-American households headed by single Black women?  Is the crab theory alive and well among Black people today?  Do most Blacks not spend most of their money with other Black businesses?  Do most Black Americans look strangely at African people?  Ever heard of the Crips and Bloods?  What about the East Coast vs West Coast rappers?  Biggie vs Tupac? Gangster vs a Wangster?  Are most Blacks typically suspect of anything that is Black owned or operated?  Have you ever heard the expression “Nigger Business”?

Let me continue.  A Black person with a degree vs one without.  An independent Black woman vs a Black man.  A Howard graduate vs a University of Texas graduate.  Someone who lives in The Hamptons vs Harlem.  An undergrad vs a post graduate student.  You’re divided by status, color, hair, intelligence, size of house, place of residence, type of car and size of church.  It’s quite subtle and you’re even divided by your Bling..Bling.

Both Black and White people keep Willie Lynch alive.  Do you know how many times I’ve heard White people say “you’re different or you’re not like them?”  Willie knew that once you take the patriarch and the leader out of the home that’s it’s all down hill from there.  The natural order of things is for man to be head of woman.  Not in a controlling way but rather a protective and respectful manner.  However when you break a Black man and break a Black woman you have utter chaos among the Black family.

What’s the answer?  A renewing of the mind.  We have to embrace the differences rather than scorn them.  We have to love each other and that starts by loving ourselves.  We have to support each other because we are only as strong as our weakest link.

This is not an indictment against any other race.  This is an appeal to the Black community to rise up and unite so the world becomes a better place for all to reside.

That’s my spin on it.

  • Not only did/do I experience this within my community, I experienced this within my home as a child. Being of mixed races, my family often 'compared' me to my sibling. I was the 'smart' one and my sister was the 'pretty' one. I grew up thinking that I was not pretty and she grew up thinking she was not smart. It is good that you have put up a mirror. Now to stand long enough to really see ourselves.
