Your Money Consciousness

Money ConsciousnessMoney has often been a fascinating subject to me.  I’ve often wondered why some people have so much of it while the rest of us have so little?  Where did our consciousness about money originate?  How do we expand our consciousness about money?  If money is abundant (and I believe it is so) then why do we have such a scarce mentality about money?

I went to school and got a college degree in accounting.  When I came out of school I was making $22,000 a year as a staff account.  Three years later when I left the most I had made at any account job was $37,000 and that was with bonuses.  Most of the time my salary was capped off at $30,000 and I thought that was a lot of money.  As you know, a lot of money is relative.

When I left the accounting profession and entered the world of finance as a loan officer my first check was more than $2,300 and my largest check was $10,000.  What happened?  I raised my prosperity consciousness.  I expanded my awareness around money.  Since that time I have consistently made checks in similar amounts and much more.  However, what I still realize is that I still have a limited prosperity consciousness.

How do I know?  Well let me give you a few examples.

Randy Gage, the millionaire messiah recently reported that he spent $9,000 on 10 custom shirts.  He also reported that he has some silk shirts that cost as much as $2,000 each, spends $30,000 on vacations, buys cars in the $500,000 range, has bed sheets that cost $1,500, sofas and watches that cost $65,000 and a shoes that cost as much as $10,000 each.  He also gives away of ton of money to non-profit organizations and is often the number one contributor in a number of them.  The numbers made me feel a little uneasy.   I felt uneasy not because I thought his spending was  frivolous but because I had no reference point for these kinds of numbers.

Also, recently I listened to an audio on how you can get lines of credit ranging from $250,000 to 5 million.  Just the thought of having $250,000 in my possession at one time made me a little uncomfortable not to mention $5 million.

I know that money is infinite.  I know that as much as I can spend there is much more there to be earned.  The big question is then why am I not earning it?  How would you feel if you’re sitting at lunch with a friend and he tells you that his income dropped from $250,000 per month to just under $100,000 while at the time you are hovering around $45,000 per month gross before expenses?  I wasn’t jealous or envious but I did start to feel a little bit inadequate.  I felt this way not because I felt that money determined my value or worth but because I knew that I was capable of reaching those numbers as well.

I believe that you can only start to experience those kinds of numbers when you learn to expand and raise your prosperity consciousness.  You will never be able to rise higher than your consciousness.  Your self image keeps you stuck at the income level that you are and if you ever rise above the level of your self image you will work very hard to get back to that original place by sabotaging your efforts in some way.

The quickest way that I know to begin to expand your prosperity consciousness is to hang out with people who earn significantly more than you.  You need to visit the finest restaurants, hotels, homes, and vacation spots to see how those people live.  You can never get there with your current circle of friends because they are all earning about the same as you are.  You will have to get outside of your comfort zone.  Money is infinite and abundant and if anyone tries to convince you otherwise you should start running away from them as fast as Usain Bolt.  If anyone tries to convince you that it not spiritual to have large sums of money and that you should parade around like a pauper to be accepted into the kingdom of heaven just turn in the opposite direction and walk away without uttering a word.

People don’t make all of these beautiful and expensive things if there would be no one to enjoy it.  Everything here on earth is of God’s creation and meant to be enjoyed.  You have a finite time here on earth with and infinite amount of things and money to enjoy.  So go out and start earning more money and expand your money consciousness.

That’s my spin on it.
